The logline
Laura and Ben come one last time to their late son's apartment to pack the final box of his old belongings. After a chain of events and a change of heart, their grief and needs prove to be incompatible. We want to explore how differently each person needs to heal from trauma, and how sometimes the pain can deteriorate love and relationships.
The synopsis
Laura enters her son's apartment. Walking through the space, she feels the emptiness deeply. In his bedroom, she tries to unwind and finds an empty micro-cassette recorder. Her husband Ben enters and grabs the last box, which breaks, spilling its contents. Ben exits and returns with a fresh box. As they place the last of their son's belongings in the box, Laura finds a micro-cassette.
She pops the tape into the recorder and she and Ben dance. When Laura reveals that their son recorded the music, Ben stops dancing and confronts Laura. He yearns to forget and move on, while Laura holds onto the memories and needs to talk about their son.
Their conflicting needs are just too painful, and they are forced to make a difficult decision.
